My mobile telephony service has been provided by BT for many years – long before they hived off their mobile service to Cellnet and for some reason I remained as a legacy contract holder with BT until now.
The small number of customers who remained with BT appeared to be piggybacked on the BT Business mobile service but the coverage was good and from time to time the telephones were upgraded.
With the impending purchase of EE by BT; British Telecom is returning once again to the mobile market and their legacy customers, particularly if they remained with BT Broadband have been offered a good upgrade offer of a new SIM with unlimited texts, 200 minutes and 500 Meg of data for a fixed 5 pounds a month.
I snapped their hand off!
I got the new SIM popped it into my the HTC Desire and then followed the procedure to activate the phone and begin the process of porting my old telephone number over to the new SIM. It all worked remarkably easily although it did take some 36 hours.
The new phone appears to be working well with good coverage and the 3G certainly seems better than the old data connection.
